Hi Rob. First the bad news! You can only, at best, be the world’s 2nd worst graphic designer!
Thanks for a useful little lesson – as always Keep it Simple, Simon (that’s the polite version.
With this type of ‘product name/description logo, would you ever bother to use the copyright symbol?
All the best
Haha Mike, I’ll have to compete with you for that then!
I personally wouldn’t bother with a copyright symbol. I use a “(c) Rob Cornish / GainHigherGround.com” notice on my products and web pages but beyond that I ignore any rips off. Branding is good but the really power is in making compelling offers so I tend to focus on that mainly. Just my opinion!
Cheers, Rob.
Thanks Rob great idea .Think we are all guilty of over complicating everything.
My pleasure Allan and thanks for taking the time to comment. I completely agree and include myself in that too. Keep looking for the simple way!
Cheers, Rob.
Morning Rob.
I used to be a Departmental Manager. Whenever new systems ot tasks were introduced to the workplace I would look for the easy way to make them work for my lads on a daily basis. We would talk and analys to work out the EASY way.
Unfortunatly I am now just a “worker” (although it is now part time) and have no management input. Our bosses just make every task as complicated as possible which creates uneccessary work and stress. The EASY way is always the best way.
As per Rob…. a great short video showing exactly how to do it. Not someone just telling you how to di it.
Very interesting Steve and reminds me very much of my years of employment. I think most places are the same really.
Thanks for the feedback and your thoughts 🙂
Cheers, Rob.
Nice one Rob! Why did I not think of that! I’ve just paid $30 to get a logo created but I’ll definitely be doing this in future!
Thanks for the helpful advice!
Cheers
David
I’m sure it was well spent David. I still hire people but this of course is just a different way to consider.
Thanks for commenting and best wishes for the project!
Cheers, Rob.
Hi Rob
Yes I agree
Most people don’t take the time to explore Word
It really is very powerful.
I also use Canva quite a bit which is another simple and powerful free tool
Nevertheless thank you for the valuable reminder to keep it simple or as some say KISS
Thanks Philip, appreciate your thoughts.
I’ve heard of Canva but never tried it so thanks for the tip. I think Word alternatives like OpenOffice or Google Docs will be similar, doesn’t matter really what tool you use as long as the job gets done right.
Cheers, Rob.
Hi Rob,
You are always advising your students not to spend (waste) too much time on unnecessary slogs.
I think I am actually spending too much time getting things just perfect.
Thank you for again pointing out the obvious in such a practical and helpful manner!
Kind regards,
Kobus
There’s a tricky balance been “high quality” and “perfect” Kobus. It comes with experience probably, like most things. One thing is to always analyse what you’ve just done and ask yourself, “If I had to do that again what would I do?”
Glad you found this helpful and thanks for commenting 🙂
Cheers, Rob.
Thanks Rob – came at just the right moment to remind to keep it simple.
Great Philip, glad you found it useful.
Cheers, Rob.
Am in the middle of building a site and was unsure about the logo. This has just saved me so much time. More of these tips please.
Regards
David
Fantastic, really pleased to hear that David.
Good luck with the project and thanks for commenting 🙂
Cheers, Rob.
Nice one Rob
Thanks
Pleasure M, thanks for posting 🙂
As usual, you.ve over delivered something that I didn’t ask for. I don’t know how you find the time. I still haven’t finished your Nano Products course because you’ve put so much into it. Many thanks.
Best wishes
Gordon.
Appreciate that Gordon and thanks for taking the time to comment.
Cheers, Rob.
I’d suggest a better and almost as simple way to make fairly good logos is to use something like LogoZign.
I’m a beta tester for it. Not sure if it’s been put to sale to the general public or not. But I can tell you it’s brain dead simple to make logos. And they’re a lot nicer than what you can possibly output using MS word.
In about 10 to 15 minutes you’ve got yourself a decent logo. Not a super duper fancy logo but a nice logo nonetheless.
So maybe look for Logozign from the team that made Youzign if you want a simple and fast way to create as many logos as you want.
And I do not work for Youzign. Just a beta tester and a Youzign user as well.
Thanks for the tip Roger I’ve not heard of that one. Worth being aware of if you’re in the market for dedicated logo software.
Cheers, Rob.
I have been skirting around your products for a few years but I now have to take action to build and market an online training course. Can you help me? You make it all sound so easy.
It’s not ‘easy’ Bernard. Simple maybe but I would never describe any part of this business as easy. Lots of hard work is required. I know you probably know that but worth saying for other that might be reading this. Why not check out some of my complimentary training first of all and then possibly consider Gain Higher Ground Membership?
Cheers, Rob.
Hi Rob…Good tip!
I’ve spent (wasted) too much time in the past trying to create that ‘perfect’ brand logo. After watching this video I thought “…what do I want to offer?” And the whole Website/Brand/Logo just came together:
MyWebsite.com
Product/Service
Brilliant. Thanks
Great Colin, very glad it was of help to you. Thanks for commenting 🙂
Cheers, Rob.
Hi Rob,
I used the same system myself to create my business logo. It literally took just 5 minutes, but I am very satisfied with the result.
Many thanks,
All the best,
Brandon
Nice work Brandon 🙂 IT’s a great feeling knocking out a good job in a short space of time!
Cheers, Rob.
Clear thinking Rob and trying to “work out” a logo can give you a headache. Like the idea.
Good job,
John
Yes it can John. The more you think about it the more difficult it gets! As long as it looks professional it won’t make much difference to your sales either way. The real power is in creating a compelling offer.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it.
Cheers, Rob.
Good tip Rob.
Some formatting on word is easy and this is one of those easy wins.
However if you aren’t confident with Word, or you don’t have many font options then going to Fiverr is probably a good time/cost investment because your time whilst researching and editing a format is probably more than $5.
Appreciate you taking the time to comment Ian, good to get your thoughts.
Cheers, Rob.
Useful tip for Logos. Will keep this one mind for the Sales Page.
Agreed its so easy to over think many of the aspects of Product creation so having an alternative approach is useful.
Thanks.
You’re very welcome Gerald, thanks for taking the time to comment.
Cheers, Rob.
