Your email list is the single most important asset in your online business and you can build in two ways:
- Sell a product or service (the customers go onto your list)
- Give something away for free on using an email optin
In this video we look at how to set up second option by creating a landing page and thank you page, in less than 3 minutes!

What Should You Give Away On Your Opt-In Page?
There’s no need to create a 50-page report or 60-minute video.
Often this is overkill, especially for prospective subscribers who feel short on time.
Instead consider creating a very small and simple Nano Product like a 1-page PDF, swipe file, list of resources, or quick tip on a popular topic.
For free lead magnets, the fastest and easiest way to find in-demand popular topics in your market is with the “YouTube Trick” – check this blog post to see how.
In just a few hours, you can have an attractive “on-ramp” up on line for people to start joining your list – it doesn’t need to be a 6-week project!
This approach of simplifying down to the core essentials can be applied throughout your business.
Whether you’re starting up or established, you can simplify, simplify, simplify to get things done rapidly and move forward.

Great content as usual Rob, clear and informative.
I love Thrive Architect and have used the pre-built content extensively on my sales page for my nano product – such a time saver. No need to re-invent the wheel!
I’ll be building my About page soon. Thrive Architect has a number of pre-built About page templates so I’ll be using one of those, changing the colours and adding my own photo and text. It will probably take longer to decide on and optimize a photo than it will to build the actual page!
If anyone is sitting on the fence re Thrive Architect, my advice is buy it via Rob’s link. I’ve used many, many software products in my IT career and Architect is one of the best and their support is second to none.
Thank you Craig, glad it helped and I appreciate the feedback.
I think most people on my list now have Thrive Architect through one way or another! I will say, as good as it, you can obviously use the tool of your choice to build your pages. There are many great alternatives now as the “page builder space” has become increasingly competitive. Like you, Thrive is by far my personal preference and I think for most people it comes out top on a features/cost/value basis.
Whatever you use, just get the job done in a simple and rapid way (that is, of course, the underlying message in this post).
Brilliant video Rob, really invaluable information. Setting up these pages and creating the links has always been a bit of a nightmare for me. I have been with Getresponse but changed to ActiveCampaign recently through your link so having the exact process explained is superb…thanks again. I already have Thrive Architect on my WordPress site too and it’s a lovely tool to use. It was really interesting to see the video after watching you create it on the last Elevate session. Have great weekend. Gary
Sounds like you’re all set Gary! You’ll really enjoy using ActiveCampaign I think, it’s an extremely powerful system when you explore it’s Automations. Start simple and build them out as you need them (there is a risk of unintended consequences if you go too fast).
Glad the video helped Gary and get in touch if you need anything 🙂
Hey Rob, great short video. Thanks for this. I have been building squeeze pages and a one-page sales page using Instabuilder.
I take it with Thrive Architect, you can create a sales page and also start from a blank page if you wanted?
Watching your tutorial, I might have to go for Thrive Architect.
Yes you’ve got it Chigs – in the video above I show building from a template (just for speed really) but there are blank page templates as well. In practice I often begin with a blank page and build everything up from nothing.
TA a great tool to have and I don’t know anyone who’s moved to it and reversed their decision so hopefully it’ll treat you well if you decide to go for it.
Thanks for your comment, great to get your input 🙂
